BEST VACATION EVER!!!!

Really, let me say it one more time---BEST VACATION EVER!!!!

Okay this is a long one--sorry!!

So Clutch and I decided after Ryane was born that when we planned our summer vacations that we would go on a rotating schedule of family/adults only vacations.  Last year was Disneyworld, so this year was Ixtapa, Mexico for Clutch and I.   Now, when we originally started looking at vacation packages we said "definitely not" to any place in Mexico.   Halfway through our search our travel agent (married to a friend that Clutch works with) sent us the information for Capella resort in Ixtapa.  She had recently traveled there and had only great things to say.   So we reconsidered Mexico.   Here are the reasons we picked Capella.

1.  The flight was really short--direct flight, no layovers, no connecting flights.
2. The airport was only about 20 minutes from the resort---no long ground transfers once we arrived.
3. The price was great!
4.  The resort was beautiful!!!!!!  Check it out here---Capella Ixtapa
5. We had a direct recommendation from someone who had been there and travels frequently.

I was still a little nervous about Mexico, especially since every time I mentioned that we were going there someone would make horrified look like they couldn't believe we would even think about it.

I continued to search online for information about Capella and the area in Mexico that we would fly into---and still everything I found was positive.

The details of the actual trip---

The flight going was perfect--short and sweet, I wasn't nervous at the airport at all, felt very safe.
Our transfer to the hotel was a little crazy--but driving in other countries always seems to be.
Our hotel---was absolutely perfect!!! From the minute we arrived everyone was super friendly.
Here is our room--
a set of glass sliding doors divided the room and the patio.  Where I am standing in the patio picture was the actual door to our room.  So when you enter your room, you actually enter the patio first.
huge bathroom, double sinks and huge shower....
Tequila, salt and lime and a hand written welcome letter when we arrived...
 Fresh flowers on the bed...
 The view from our patio

Other pictures from the resort--
the small pool

 view from the breakfast restaurant

the resort from the beach--not a great pic
 at the big pool--just relaxing!

So what did we do while we were there?????

Not much!!!!!!  We spent lots of time by the pool, relaxing, reading and napping.  We did venture into Ixtapa city for some shopping and lunch on the 3rd day of our trip.   We also spent the last day of our trip at the local public beach also in Ixtapa city---we had a blast.  This trip was just what we needed.   They had plenty of excursion type trips you could book but this wasn't that type of vacation for us.   We needed to CHILL!
A few beach pics--
this was the beach at Capella--not for swimming!

 Like a Boss!!
 exploring

the public beach---we had so much fun here.  It was mostly families and it was so clean.  We spent the whole day laying in the sun, playing in the ocean, and having drinks at a local beach bar.  We were there from 10-6---It was perfect.  Love this man by the way!

My favorite things about this vacation:

the food was awesome---everything tasted wonderful and looked beautiful!!

the drinks were really good too! Yummy!
guacamole and beers every afternoon at 5 delivered to your room!  It was so GOOD!
Clutch's fav--tequila sampler in the library every night

Mainly--the staff was amazing.  They catered to our every need.   They were super sweet, called us by name, remembered our drink preferences, and took such good care of us.   Did I say BEST TRIP EVER yet???

Will we go again----YES!!!

What would we do different:
1.  It wasn't all inclusive, so we went in knowing we would spend a lot of food and drinks.  But the cheap price of the trip made up for the fact it wasn't all inclusive.  And honestly the quality of service, staff, food and drinks totally beat any all inclusive resort we have ever been to.  We got what we paid for.    However, next time we would be better about ordering--most of the meals we could have shared. Room service was a cheaper menu too and basically the same.   We would also go into town the first day and get snacks and drinks of our own.  We had a mini fridge and they provided all the water, juice and soft drinks we wanted.

2. We would go into town a little more for dinner and lunches.  I was too much of a chicken at first.  There was no reason to be.  The cab ride was only about 10minutes and cheap.  Everything was really safe and really tourist-y in Ixtapa city.   The lunch we had in town was 1/2 the price of our resort lunch.   But like I said the resort meals were SOOOOO GOOOD, so we would still do that too.

3.  We would spend another day on the beach!!!!  It was my favorite part.

That's it!

We had a blast, it was perfect getting to spend some alone time. It was a crazy year last year and we just needed some time for us.   I loved every minute of having the hubby all to myself.  No work, no school,  sleeping late and being lazy----I want to go back!!!!
